About the Artwork

Celestial Art

Discover A World of My Own, a celestial portrait displaying the relationship between womanhood and nature. This piece is inspired by the weight many carry, recognizing the much of human suffering is human led. This sobering thought empowers us to support our communities and fight to restore Earths sanctity.

The center portrait is a side profile of an ancient Kemetic woman with the Earth as her afro. The continent of Africa is centered on the globe, and the woman is looking toward a blazing, bright sun. Life started in Afraka, and this piece calls the diaspora back to Mother Nature. It explores how the weight of the world can run through our minds, and how I find escape and comfort by looking through it.

This is the breath of fresh air that ignites creation. The vulnerability in this piece lies in admitting that, despite being aware and well researched, there are still people I cannot reach and problems I cannot solve. This is a natural part of being human. Learning to become aware of and comfortable with the constant overarching stream of truth is a lesson I find myself returning to again and again.

I hope people feel both inspired and uplifted. Our lives are minute compared to some of the forces within our reality, but that does not make them insignificant. In fact, it does the opposite. It gives reason to use the daily blessing of life to its fullest, without being burdened by performance.
